One of the most commonly reported symptoms associated with liver disease is unexplained or persistent fatigue.
You may feel unusually tired even after getting what seems like adequate sleep. Everyday activities that normally feel easy may begin to require more effort.
However, fatigue is extremely nonspecific.
Poor sleep, anemia, thyroid disorders, infections, stress, depression, medications, and many other conditions can cause similar symptoms.
So fatigue alone cannot diagnose fatty liver.
If tiredness persists without an obvious explanation, a healthcare professional can determine whether blood tests or other evaluation are appropriate.
2. A Feeling of Discomfort in the Upper Right Abdomen
The liver is located primarily in the upper-right portion of the abdomen, beneath the rib cage.
Some people with fatty liver may experience vague discomfort, pressure, or a feeling of fullness in this area, particularly when the liver becomes enlarged.
However, many people with fatty liver have no abdominal symptoms at all.
Upper-abdominal pain can also come from the gallbladder, stomach, intestines, muscles, or other organs.
That’s why persistent or unexplained abdominal discomfort shouldn’t automatically be blamed on the liver.
